Yes, indeed. Another round for those who can’t get enough of the music of the ’80s. Yes, another instalment of Retrolicious is in the works.
This time, the acts include Wang Chung (Everybody Have Fun Tonight, Let’s Go), Tiffany (I Think We’re Alone Now, Could’ve Been), Howard Jones (New Song, No One Is To Blame, Things Can Only Get Better) and Alphaville (Forever Young, Big In Japan).
And this year it’ll be staged at a bigger venue – Gardens By The Bay.
Presented by M1 Limited (M1) and organised by Class 95 FM and Running Into The Sun, here’s what Beatrice Chia-Richmond had to say about the show: “It is of no doubt that the music and pop icons emerging from the 80s continues to hold an incredibly strong place in our hearts, in the history of music in Singapore. There is something about the 80’s that we will never forget. With the emergence of many iconic pop acts and timeless popular hits in that era, it still holds so much unique influence over current pop music scene that it resonates to a wide audience even till today. For many people, it represents a time of evolution, free-spiritedness, mad hairstyles, fashion, and possibly, the best decade of music. For us, Retrolicious celebrates simply that and going by the overwhelming turnouts every year, we believe 80s music continues to hold great sentimental meaning to many.”
Indeed. I am, of course, looking forward to watching Tiffany, even though I only know those two songs. Only because I caught Debbie Gibson last year, and this will complete me.
